GÜNÜN FARKLI ZAMAN DİLİMİNİN SUPRA-MAKSİMAL BİSİKLET EGZERSİZİNDEKİ 02 TÜKETİMİNE ETKİSİ

EFFECT OF TIME PERIOD OF DAY ON OXYGEN CONSUMPTION OF SUPRA-MAXIMAL CYCLING EXERCISE

Abstract (2. Language):
To investigate the effects of time period of day on oxygen consumption of supra-maximal exercise, 12 healthy male volunteers, aged 20-27 years, performed a supra-maximal cycling exercise (equivalent to 115 % of V02 max) to exhaustion at AM (08:30 hr - 10:00 hr) and at PM (15:30 hr - 18:00 hr). While resting heart rate and oral body temperature were greater (p < 0.05) at PM than AM, oxygen intake (VO2SUPRA) and accumulated oxygen deficit (AOD) of supra maximal exercise were not different between AM and PM. In conclusion, the findings of the present study indicated that V02SUPRA and AOD during supra-maximal exercise were not influenced by the time period of day, at least within the time period used in this study.
