Almost for fourty years honeycomb structures have been used and probably are going to be used in the aviation
due to their advantages. The main reason for being populerly used in the aircraft structure is its low weight
ratio in comparison with solid structures. In this article, the historical perspective of honeycomb structures is
briefly viewed and given an example to show why the honeycomb sructures are preferred in structures. Then the
sub elements which occur the honeycomb are described, the production techniques of them are given. In the last
section of the article, some applications in the industry are given.

Havacılık sanayisinde kullanılan malzemelerin seçimindeki en önemli faktör ağırlık olup, petek yapı ağırlık
parametresi bazında getirdiği avantajlar nedeniyle tercih edilen bir yapı türüdür. Bu makale dahilinde öncelikle
petek yapıların geçmişine kısa bir atıfta bulunulmuş, bilahare petek yapıların neden tercih edildiği somut bir
örnek ile gösterilmiş, yapının kendisini oluşturan alt elemanlara değinilmiş, üretim yöntemleri kısaca izah
edilmiş, sonuç kısmında ise bazı kullanım alanı örnekleri gösterilmiştir.
