In this prospective study, associations between gallstones and age, sex, obesity, parity, oral contraceptives, diabetes, smoking, and alcohol intake were assessed in age and sex matched 100 patients with cholelithiasis and 100 controls. The results of this study confirmed the female predominance and increased risk of gallstones with age. Obesity, multiparity, and oral contraceptives represent high risk factors for gallstones. Bu çalışmada yaş ve cins yönünden uygun, safra kesesinde taş bulunan 100 hasta ile 100 kontrolde safra taşları ile yaş, cins, doğum sayısı, obezite, diabet, oral kontraseptifler, sigara ve alkol kullanımı arasındaki ilişki değerlendirildi. Çalışma sonuçları safra taşlarının kadınlarda daha sık olduğunu, yaş ile insidansının arttığını desteklemekte olup obezite, fazla gebelik sayısı ve oral kontraseptif kullanımı yüksek risk faktörlerini oluşturmaktadır. Diabet, sigara ve alkol kullanımı ile safra taşları arasında ilişki bulunamamıştır. [Turgut Özal Tıp Merkezi Dergisi 1997;4(l):72-75]
