Leprosy has been shown to affect almost all systems human body and abnormalities in functions of autonomic nerves innervating various parts have been observed in several studies. However, in literature, the assessment of the parameters of ventricular repolarization in leprosy pat entshavenotbeenreported. Inourstudy we ncluded 28 lepromatous leprosy pat ents (23 males and 5 females) and 28 normal subjects (22 males and 6 females) as control group. 12 leads EGG were recorded at a speed of 50 mm/s in all persons. Mean QTc interval, maximum QT interval, maximum QTc interval, QT dispersion, and QTc dispersion (415±26 ms, 409±36 ms, 449±29 ms,48±16 ms, and 53±19 ms, respectively) in lepromatous leprosy patients were significantly longer than that of the normal subjects (401±17 ms 392±30 ms 428±23 ms 35±12 ms and 41±16 ms, respectively) at similar RR intervals. It was concluded that a reproduc ble and cheap method ECG n assessment of autonom c funct on in leprosy patients might be included in addition to other methods.

Lepra hastalığının insan vücudunun hemen hemen tüm sistemlerini etkilediği ve vücudun değişik kısımlarını innerve eden otonomik sinirlerin fonksiyonlarında bozukluk olabileceği birkaç çalışmada gösterilmiştir. Bununla birlikte literatürde lepra hastalarında ventriküler repolarizasyon parametrelerini değerlendiren herhangi bir çalışmaya rastlanmamıştır. Çalışmamıza Elazığ Cüzzam Hastanesinde lepramatöz lepra tanısı ile takip ve tedavi edilen, yaş ortalaması 60±13 (30-85) olan 23'ü erkek,5'i kadın toplam 28 lepra hastası ile yaş ortalaması 57±9 (45-76) olan 22'si erkek, 6'sı kadın toplam 28 kontrol grubu dahil edildi. Lepramatöz lepralı hastaların ortalama QTc intervali, maximum QT intervali, Maximum QTc intervali, QT dispersiyonu ve QTc dispersiyonu ( sırasıyla;415±26 ms, 409±36 ms, 449±29 ms, 48±16 ms, and 53±19 ms) benzer RR intervalleri uzunluğunda kontrol grubuninkilerden (sırasıyla ;401±17 ms, 392±30 ms, 428±23 ms, 35±12 ms, and 41±16 ms) anlamlı derecede daha uzundu. Sonuç olarak; lepralı hastalarda kardiyak otonomik d isfonksiyonun değerlendirilmesinde diğer yöntemlere ilave olarak ucuz ve tekrarlanabilir bir yöntem olan EKG'nin dahil edilmesi ve burada ventriküler repolarizasyon parametrelerin in de incelenmesinin uygun olacağı kanısına varıldı.
