A hypercoagulable state is well recognized in association with malignant tumors andiresultsiiniaigreatlyiincreasediriskiofithromboemboicidiseaseiduringisurgeryi in these patients. This study examines fibrinogen and platelet levels and attempts to correlate these with disease stage in patients with gastric carcinoma. Fibrinogen concentration and platelet counts were examined in a consecutive group of 25 patients with gastric carcinoma. All patients were staged according to UICC TNM classification. Fibrinogen concentration was significantly higher in patients with gastric carcinoma than in age and sex matched control patients with bening disease (p<0.05) Fibrinogen concentration and platelet count were higher in patients with greater depth of invasion (p<0.05). This study demonstratesisignificantiincreaseiinifibrinogeniconcentrationiinipatientsiwithi gastricicarcinomaiandiincreasedistagesiofitheitumoricorrelatesiwithiincreasedi fibrinogen concentration and platelet count. By investigating fibrinogen and plateletilevelsiinipatientsiwithigastricicarcinoma,ianiideaicanibeiputiforwardi about the stage or prognosis of the tumor.

Birçok tümörde koagüülasyon sisteminde aktivasyon sözkonusudur. Bu durum cerrahi esnasında tromboemboiik kompiikasyon riskinin artmasına neden olur. Prospektif olarak gerçekleştirilen bu kinik çalışmada 25 mide kanseri olgusu incelendi (Grup I). Kontrol grubu olarak kanser dışı olgulardan oluşan 25 olgu çalışmaya dahil edildi (Grup II). Tüm olgularda fibrinojen ve platelet düzeyleri incelendi ve TNM sınıflandırmasına göre tümörün evresi ile ilişkili olup olmadığı araştırıldı. Grup Idde fibrinojen düzeyi 534 mg/dL, Grup IIdde 227 mg/dL (p<0.05); platelet düzeyi Grup Idde 273.400/mrrf, Grup IIdde 246.000/mm3 olarak bulundu (p>0.05). Mide kanseri olgularda evre arttıkça fibrinojen ve platelet düzeylerinde buna paralel artışlar saptandı (p<0.05). Kinik prospektif çalışmamızda mide kanseri olgularda, kontrol grubuna göre fibrinojen düzeyinde anlamlı, platelet düzeyinde anlamlı olmayan artışlar saptandı. Tümörün evresi arttıkça hem fibrinojen, hem de platelet düzeyinde anlamlı artışlar saptandı Çalışmanın sonucunda mide kanseri olgularda evreye bağımlı korelasyon gösteren hiperfbrinojenemi ve platelet sayısında artış saptandı. Mide kanseri hastalarda fibrinojen ve platelet seviyelerine bakllarak, tümör evresi dolayısıyla prognoz hakkında fikir ileri sürülebilir.
