In the existing production environment, it is required for the companies to perform the activities that
satisfy the customer expectations and improve performance in a right, fast and low cost way in order to
survive and compete with. Sometimes these activities need the re-examination of machine layout and
material handling system. In this study, transitionto the automatic conveyor systems running without an
operator and making only direction handling in place of forklifts has been analysed and the comparison
with the performance criterias of the alternative designs has been performed by using PROMODEL 2002
simulation package program.

Günümüz üretim ortamında işletmelerin ayakta kalabilmesi ve rekabet edebilmesiiçin; üretim olanakları
üzerinde, değişken müşteri isteklerini karşılayabilecek değişiklikleri hızlı, doğru ve düşük maliyetle
gerçekleştirmeleri gerekmektedir. Bu değişiklikler bazen makine yerleşiminin ve malzeme taşıma
sisteminin yeniden gözden geçirilmesini gerektirmektedir. Bu çalışmada, akıştipi bir üretim sisteminde
yüksek seviyede işgücü kullanarak, fazla miktarda ara-stokla taşıma yapan forkliftler yerine otomatik
konveyör sistemleriyle tek yönlü, operatörsüz taşıma yapabilen bir sisteme geçiş, PROMODEL 2002
simülasyon paket programı kullanılarak analiz edilmiş, alternatif tasarımların performans kriterlerine göre
istatistiksel yöntemlerle karşılaştırılması yapılmıştır
