Abstract (2. Language):
The surgical treatment of atrial myxomas. The purpose of this sludy was to revicw our expe-rience with 14 patients who undervvent operafions for atrial myxomas between 1990 and 1999. The diagnosis of atrial myxoma was made by eehocardiography in ali cases. Surgical appro-ach to thc tumor was left atrial in 6, biatrial in 4, and transseptal in 4 patients. Associated pro-cedures inclııded coronary artery bypass grafting in one, mitral valve repair and trİcnspid anu-loplasty in one palient. Only one hospital mortality occurred a,s a resuit of multiorgan failure in patient wîth pccİphe-ral embolization. Therc wcrc no recurrent myxomas, whcrcas one patienl did require reoperati-on for mitral valve İnsufficiency.
