Chemotherapy has been indicated for the cure of various tumors or prior to radiotherapy and surgery. These therapeutics may lead to directly or indirectly changes on oral mucosa and minor salivary glands at a rate of% 40¬80. This study is carried out on chemotherapeutic drugs such as Cysplatin and 5-Florourasil which has not been investigated in regards with their effects on oral mucosa and labial minor salivary glands on patients who received cancer chemotherapaitics for a period of 3 mounths. In the tissue samples of these patients various rates of parakeratosis, fibrosis and atrophy has been observed. In their oral mucosa whereas, labial minor salivary glands samples showed mononuclear infiltration, atrophy, decreased secretion and interticiel fibrosis. It is concluded that despite three mounths after the termination of chemotherapy, oral mucosa and labial minor salivary gland samples of these patients have still been displayed the effects of medication.

Kemoterapotik ilaçlar çeşitli tümörlerde tedavi edici amaçla veya hastayı radyoterapiye ya da cerrahi girişime hazırlamak amacı ile kullanılırlar. Bu ilaçların kullanımı ile oral mukoza ve labial minör tükrük bezlerinde (LMT) direk veya indirek etki ile % 40-80 oranında değişikliklere neden olabilirler. Bu araştırma daha Önce oral mukoza ve labial minör tükrük bezi (LMT) üzerine uzun süreli etkileri hiç araştırılmamış olan Cisplatin ve 5-Florourasil gibi ke-moterapotiklerin etkilerini saptamak için, çeşitli kanser tiplerinden dolayı ortalama 3 ay önce tedavi edilmiş 13 kanser hastası üzerinde yapıldı. Hastalardan sağlanan doku örneklerinde oral mukozada çeşitli oranlarda parakeratoz, akantoz, displazi, atipî, mononükleer infıltrasyonu, fibro-zis ve atrofi gözlenirken LMT'de de mononükleer İnfiltras-yon, atrofi, sekresyon da azalma, intersitisiel fibrozis saptandı. Çalışmanın sonucunda, kemoterapotik ilaçlarla tedavi edilen kanser hastalarının oral mukoza ve LMT bezlerinde tedaviden 3 ay geçmiş olmasına rağmen, halâ bu ilaçların etkilerinin sürdüğü tespit edilmiştir.
