Abstract (2. Language):
One of the main goal in pediatric dentistry is to maintain the primary teeth until the end of their physiologic resorption period to protect the normal pennenant eruption processus. As the primary molars are very important for the development! length ofdental arches, the prevention becomes vital for these teeth. Pit and fissure sealent is an excellent example of a preventive treatment that has been only slowly adopted by the pedodontists who especially prefer to use for the permanent molars. In this study, two sealents (Delton, Helioseal) were applied in 108primery second mandibulary molar (caries free) oj 49 subjects aged 4 to 7years in Fribourg dental pediatric clinics. All of these subjets received two types sealent applicati on on the different sides. The aim of this study was to evaluate the anatomic from marginal adaptation, marginal colo-risation, superficial irregularities and caries of these sealents after 6 and 12 months. 100 % of the applied sealents were considered satisfactory 6 months after application. AWiough partial loss of sealent occurred after 12 months in few cases, no occlusal caries was observed in any tooth. No significant differences in the results of the clinical evaluation were found between sealents as regard to applicability to brimarv molars so it can be concluded thev are safe and useful clinically.
