Fourty children aged 3-16 years who were attending Pediatric Cardiac Center of Istanbul University Faculty of Medicine were examined for dental plague and caries.Saliva was taken from each child to assess the level of Mutans streptococci colonization(cfufml). The levels were reflected the infection in 77.5% of the cases.Total DMF/df values was found to positively correlated to Silness-Löeplaqueindex scores(p<0.001).

İstanbul Üniversitesi İstanbul Tıp Fakültesi Çocuk Sağlığı ve Hastalıkları Anabilim Dalı Kardiyoloji Polikliniğin başvuran 3-16 yaşları arasında bulunan 40 çocuk bakteriye! diş plağı ve diş çürükleri açısından değerlendirilmiştir. Her çocuktan tükürük ömeği alınarak Mutans streptokok sayıları açısından(cfu/ml) incelenmiştir. Bu değerlerin %77.5 oranında infeksiyon düzeyinde olduğu belirlenmiştir. Toplam DMF/df değerleri ile Silness-Löe plak İndeksi değerlerinin pozitif korelasyon içerisinde olduğu bulunmuştur (p<0.001).
