Abstract (2. Language):
Propolis is a resinous substance collected by bees from various plant sources, which is used by them to repair and protect their hives. This natural product was used as a remedy for treatment of many diseases in folk medicine. Many scientific articles are published every year in different journals related to the pharmacological properties of propolis. Propolis has antibacterial, antiviral, antifungal, antiinflammatory, antihepatotoxic, anticancer, antioxidant, antiulcer, immunostimulant and anesthetic properties. In this review, physical, chemical and biological properties of propolis and usage of propolis in dentistry are mentioned.
