Abstract (2. Language):
The Quran mentions the names of plants that have vital role for human beings. This is important for us not only for accentuating the close relationship between the plants and human being's happiness but also for giving an idea about the socio-cultura!, economic, and for commercial life of the environment where the revelation took place. If we consider developing an environmental ethic, we have to count all these aspects and examine the plants mentioned in the Quran and the hadlihs of the Prophet Muhammad in their context systematically.

Kuran-ı Kerim'de insanlar için hayati önem taşıyan bitkilerden de bahsedil inektedir. Kııran'da bitkiler hakkında ayrıntılı bilgilerin olmasının sebebi iman saadetinin sıkı bir şekilde bitkilere bağlı olmasıyla alakalıdır. Diğer taraftan bu bitki isimlerinin aynı zamanda dönemin sosyo-kültürel, iktisadi, ticari hayatı açısından da önemli olduğu hatırlatılmalıdır. Bütün bu yönleri dikkate alındığında bir çevre ahlakı oluşturmak adına Kur'an'da ve hadislerdeki geçen bitkiler ve bunların bağlamları üzerine yoğunlaşmanın uygun olacağı kanaatindeyiz.
