In this study, the effect of the new communication and information technologies on broadcasting news techniques, particularly in live broadcasting is examined, focusing on the new mobile satcom unit called video-phone which has been loidely used by the news broadcasting teams travelling to report a story in extreme geographing environment or sensitive areas for the last two years, from Afghanistan to Iraq War. Recent developments for improving the picture quality in videophone and mobile ISDN systems, including streaming media, and their possible effects in future are also discussed in the study.
