THE EYÜP REGIONAL PARK PROPOSAL WITHIN THE GENERAL FRAMEWORK OF THE GOLDEN HORN MASTER PLAN

Abstract (2. Language):
The most important aspect of the Golden Horn Master Plan prepared by Boğaziçi University is the organization of green areas which the area is in urgent need of. The northern end of the estuary which is already filled by Alibey and Kâğıthane streams up to a point very close to Eyüp region should be completely filled and converted into a very large regional park. The area which will be filled will make it possible to regain an area of 70 hectares and the total area of the park planned and the total area of the park planned to be the green area of the region will be approximately 163 hectares.
This arrangement, apart from putting some green on the map, will also help form a recreational centre from which the city populace will benefit. The area which will retain everything necessary for a recreational centre will be enchanced when the Alibeyköy Centre is directed further south.
Due to the presence of water canals and dams in the upstreams region of Alibeyköy stream it is possible to move the parklands further inland. Two navigation channels, each about 40 m wide and 8 m deep are proposed through this parkland to provide both streams with a discharge basin.

Kâğıthane ve Alibey derelerinin taşıdığı siltasyon materyali ile zaten dolmuş olan Haliç'den kazanılacak olan 70 ha. lık alanla birlikte 168 ha. a ulaşacak olan Eyüp Bölge Parkı, bir fikir projesidir.
Bu proje ile, Cumhuriyet İstanbul'unda geleneksel Türk yaşamının canlandırılması amaçlanmakta ve çağdaş yeşilalaıı düzenleme ilkeleriyle halkın boş zamanların değerlendirmesi, yani eğlenme, dinlenme ihtiyaçlarının karşılanması, turistik, rekreatif ve sportif eylemlere olanak verilmesi için Bölgesel karakterde bir park ve büyük bir rekreasyon merkezinin yaratılması ön görülmektedir.
