Prof. Dr. Ahmet Hızal was born in Düzce on first of January 1, 1946 and died in a car accident on June 8, 2010. He was the Department head of Forest Engineering, Faculty of Forestry, Istanbul University. He served as an academician more than 30 years in the Department of Watershed Management. He published many research papers in the international and national scientific journals.

Bu İstanbul Üniversitesi Orman Fakültesi Havza Yönetimi Anabilim Dalı öğretim Üyesi Prof. Dr. Ahmet Hızal 1946 yılında Düzce de doğdu. 1969 yılında mezun olduğu İ.Ü. Orman Fakültesine 1979 yılında Asistan olarak atandı. 1993 yılında Profesör olan Ahmet Hızal çalışkanlığı, alçak gönüllülüğü, yardımseverliği ve açık sözlülüğü ile örnek bir bilim adamıydı. 2005 yılından beri yürütmekte olduğu Orman Mühendisliği Bölüm Başkanlığı sırasında verilen bir kamu görevine giderken geçirdiği trafik kazası sonucu 08.06.2010 tarihinde hayatını kaybetti.
