Abstract (2. Language):
One of the significant events that the Ottoman society experienced during the 19th century was the missionary activities to which it was exposed. As a result of these activities, the classical Ottoman social structure and order was disturbed. While the main churches were divided, religious communities were dismembered and new churches were established. Ottoman Armenian community formed an important group among the target communities of the missionaries. As a result of the activities of the Catholic and Protestant missionaries, the Gregorian Armenians were divided and separate Armenian Catholic and Protestant communities and churches were formed. Protestant missionary activities towards Armenian community, the first group forming the Ottoman Protestant community, the first Protestant church and its recognition by the Ottoman State.

19. yüzyıl boyunca Osmanlı toplumunun yaşamış olduğu en sarsıcı olaylardan biri maruz kaldığı misyonerlik faaliyetleri olmuştur. Misyonerlerin faaliyetleri sonucu klasik Osmanlı yapısı ve düzeni bozulmuştur. Ana kiliseler bölünürken, cemaatler parçalanmış, yeni kiliseler kurulmuştur. Misyonerlik faaliyetlerinde Osmanlı Ermeni cemaati, misyonerlerin hedef kitleleri arasında önemli bir grubu oluşturmuştur. Katolik misyonerlerin uğraşları sonucu, Gregoryan Ermeniler bölünerek Katolik Ermeni cemaati ve kilisesi teşkil edilirken, Protestan misyonerlerin gayretleriyle de Protestan Ermeni cemaati ve kilisesi meydana getirilmiştir. Ermeni cemaati üzerindeki Protestan misyonerlerinin çabaları, Osmanlı Protestan cemaatini oluşturan ilk grup, ilk Protestan kilisesi ve bu kilisenin Osmanlı Devleti'nce tanınması bu makalenin konusunu oluşturmuştur.
