The world economy was shaken by a series of financial crises from 1990s. This decade saw a large number of crises, starting with the crises of the European Exchange Rate Mechanism in 1992/1993, through the Mexico “tequila” crisis in 1994/1995, to the Asian crisis in 1997/1998, the Russian crisis in 1998 and the Brazilian crisis in 1998/1999, Turkish crisis in 2001. Lastly, The global economy have been faced a financial crisis that emerged in USA, because of mortgage systems problem. The effect of crisis was felt starting in September 2009 and spreading to whole world. This paper analyses the impact of global financial crisis on the Turkish economy with macroeconomic indicators and policy to give response to global contracts.

1990’lı yıllardan bu yana yaşanan çok sayıda finansal kriz dünya ekonomisine damgasını vurmuştur. 1992/1993 Avrupa Para sistemi krizi ile başlayan on yılda, 1994/1995 yıllarında Meksika’da “tekila” krizi, 1997/1998 yıllarında Asya’da, 1998 yılında Rusya’ da, ve ardından 1998/1999 yıllarında Brezilya’da, 2001 yılında ise Türkiye’de ciddi finansal krizler yaşanmıştır. Son olarak da 2008 yılı Eylül ayında etkileri hissedilmeye başlanan ABD mortgage sistemindeki aksaklıkların başlattığı ve tüm dünya ekonomisini etkisini altına alan bir finansal kriz yaşanmıştır. 2010 büyüme olduğu halde krizin etkileri ülke ekonomilerinde hala hissedilmektedir. Bu çalışmada, yapısal pek çok ekonomik soruna ilaveten küresel finansal krizin Türkiye ekonomisine etkileri makroekonomik göstergelerle ortaya konacak ve küresel küçülmeye karşı Türkiye özelinde politika önlemlerine değinecektir.
