The purpose of this study was to investigate job satisfaction of academics working at state universities in Ankara. Although several studies have examined the job satisfaction of academics, little is known about academics' job satisfaction which is adapted in the context of the two-factor theory of Herzberg. Study group was consist of 203 academics. The Job Satisfaction Scale for Academics (JSSA) developed by Kelecioglu, Bilge and Akman (2005) and the Personal Information Form were administered. The results showed that factors such as age, seniority, academic experience abroad, status, and work experience had a positive relationship with intrinsic satisfaction. On the other hand, academics in the fields of science and engineering reported higher extrinsic satisfaction than those in areas of social sciences.

Bu ara§tirmanin amaci Ankara'daki devlet universitelerinde cali^an ogretim elemanlarinin i§ doyumlarinin incelenmesidir. Ogretim elemanlarinin i§ doyumlarini inceleyen bir<ok ara§tirma olmakla birlikte, Herzberg'in iki etmen kuramina dayali olarak yapilmi§ ara§tirmalar sinirlidir. Ara§tirma grubu 203 ogretim elemanindan olu§maktadir. Ogretim elemanlarina Kelecioglu, Bilge ve Akman (2005) tarafindan geli^tirilen Ogretim Elemanlari I§ Doyumu Olcjegi (OIDO) ve ki^isel bilgi formu uygulanmi^tir. Bulgular ya§i yuksek olanlarin olmayanlarinkine; ogretim uyelerinin ogretim gorevlilerinkine; yurt di^inda bulunanlarin bulunmayanlarinkine; unvani yuksek olanlarin olmayanlarinkine; hizmet suresi fazla olanlarin olmayanlarinkine gore i<sel doyumlarinin; Fen-Muhendislik alaninda ^ali^anlarin di§sal doyumlarinin sosyal bilimler alaninda 5ali§anlarinkinden daha yuksek oldugunu gostermi^tir.
