A Scale on Teachers’ Pedagogical Values: A Reliability and Validity

Abstract (2. Language):
This study aimed to develop a measuring tool with the aim of determining pedagogical values of teaching
profession. The item pool for the scale of pedagogical values consisted of 42 items which were determined
in the study of Husu and Tirri (2007). The participants were 317 primary school and subject matter teachers
who work at the primary schools in the city centers of Burdur and Denizli. After KMO values and Bartlett
test results were analyzed for the Pedagogical Values Scale, the data set seemed to be suitable for factor
analysis based on the statistically significant findings [KMO: 0.971 x2=12939,275, sd = 820, p < .001]. The
exploratory factor analysis was used to evaluate the construct validity for the Pedagogical Values Scale.
The construct validity was analyzed in three factors based on the theoretical explanations. As a result of
the exploratory factor analysis, three factors were found as “individual, social and relational”. These three
factors accounted for 68.253% of total variance. The results indicated that the Pedagogical Values Scale is a
valid and reliable instrument in order to determine the pedagogical values of teachers.

Bu çalışmada, öğretmenlik mesleğinin eğitsel değerlerini belirlemek için geçerli ve güvenilir bir ölçme aracını
geliştirilmesi amaçlamaktadır. Eğitsel değerler ölçeğinin madde havuzu Husu ve Tirri (2007)’nin belirledikleri
42 maddeden oluşturulmuştur. Eğitsel değerler ölçeği Denizli ve Burdur il merkezinde bulunan ilköğretim
okullarında görev yapan 317 sınıf ve branş öğretmenine uygulanmıştır. Eğitsel Değerler Ölçeği’nin (EDÖ)
KMO değeri ve Bartlett testi sonuçları incelenmiş ve değerlerin istatistiksel olarak anlamlı olması [KMO:
0.971 x2=12939,275, sd = 820, p < .001] sonucundan hareketle veri setinin faktörleştirmeye uygun olduğuna
karar verilmiştir. Eğitsel Değerler Ölçeğinin yapı geçerliliği açımlayıcı faktör analizi ile belirlenmiştir. Yapı
geçerliliği kuramsal açıklamalar doğrultusunda üç faktörlü olarak analiz edilmiştir. Açımlayıcı faktör analizi
sonucunda ölçek “bireysel, sosyal ve ilişkisel” eğitsel değerleri içeren üç boyuttan oluşmaktadır. Bu üç boyut
toplam varyansın %68,253’ünü açıklamaktadır. Eğitsel Değerler Ölçeği’nin güvenirliği ise Cronbach Alpha
katsayısı ve madde toplam korelasyonları incelenmiş ve güvenirlik katsayılarının oldukça yüksek olduğu
belirlenmiştir. Bu çalışma sonucunda, Eğitsel Değerler Ölçeğinin öğretmenlerinin eğitsel değerlerini
belirlemede kullanılabilecek geçerli ve güvenilir bir ölçme aracı olduğu söylenebilir.
