Abrasive water jet (AWJ) is used as a new and alternative cutting technique in industry to form the materials that are hard to cut. In this study, AISI 1030 steel samples in different thickness were cut with AWJ process. The samples were cut with different cutting speeds. The effect of cutting speed on the surface characteristics was investigated. The results of the study show that AWJ can be used as an effective cutting process to form sharp corners and edges.

Alternatif bir üretim yöntemi olarak gündeme gelen aşındırıcı su jeti (ASJ) ile kesme, endüstriyel amaçlı malzemelerdeki gelişmelere paralellik gösterecek şekilde, işlenmesi güç malzemelerin biçimlendirilmesinde etkili bir yöntem olarak kullanılmaktadır. Bu çalışmada, endüstride yaygın kullanılan AISI 1030 malzemeden hazırlanan farklı kalınlıklardaki numuneler işleme parametrelerinden yanal hız değişken, diğer parametreler sabit tutularak, ASJ ile kesilmiş ve elde edilen yüzeylerin kesme önü geometrisi karakterize edilmiştir. Elde edilen sonuçlar dik kenar, keskin köşe ve benzeri yüzeylerin işlenmesinde aşındırıcılı su jeti ile kesme metodunun kullanılabileceğini göstermiştir.
