Abstract (2. Language):
As one of the advantages of community life “security” is a crucial service that needs to be supplied sufficiently by a legal authority. However fear of crime, which is considered a separate and different concept than crime, is usually neglegted by the legal authority. Fear of crime can affect various aspects our per-sonal and social life. In regard to these effects, it has given a cru-cial place in the political and social agenda in the West. However, as a concept, fear of crime has not taken place in our social and po-litical agenda yet. In the current study, individuals at sixteen and over living in Malatya were interviewed for the purpose of identi-fying their level of fear of crime and related factors. Results show that those who are satisfied with street lightning, those who think that the police response in a reasonable time, and those who are more educated feel less fear of crime. On the other hand, females feel more fear of crime than males feel.
