The ense of safety of students and education staff is one of the vital aspects of effective education. Providing effective education and learning is almost impossible where individuals feel insecure. Besides security precautions, different educational interventions are used to maintain the security of schools. Three types of educational interventions are implemented for; (1) students including individual conflict resolution, peer mediation, values education, mentoring, constructive training, problem-solving, cooperative education, self-esteem training, democratic training programs, afterschool training and alternative schools; (2) teachers; and (3) family and school association. In this study, it is aimed to investigate thoughts and advices of 354 managers of secondary and high schools in the city of Diyarbakır on educational interventions provided to students, teachers and families. The study revealed that the effectiveness of educational interventions to prevent crime is significantly different between schools with different number of students, types of schools (public/private, secondary/high), and schools located in different density of crime. The examined educational interventions were found more effective in elementary schools, schools with less number of students and schools with less density of crime, and private schools.

Etkili öğretimin ana unsurlarından birisi öğrenci ve eğitim
görevlilerinin kendilerini güven içinde hissetmeleridir. Bireyin
kendisini güvende hissetmediği ortamlarda etkili bir öğretim ve
öğrenmenin gerçekleştirilmesi çok zordur. Okullarda güvenli
ortamı sağlamak amaçlı güvenlik tedbirlerinin yanı sıra değişik
eğitim araçları kullanılmaktadır. Bu eğitim araçları genelde;
bireysel çatışma çözümü, akran arabuluculuğu, değerler eğitimi,
mentorluk, üretici eğitim, sorun çözme, işbirlikçi eğitim, özsaygı
eğitimi, demokrasi eğitimi programları ile okul sonrası eğitimler
ve alternatif okullar gibi öğrencilere yönelik eğitim araçları,
öğretmenlere yönelik eğitim araçları ve okul aile işbirliğine
yönelik programlar şeklinde uygulanmaktadır. Bu çalışmayla
Diyarbakır ilinde bulunan 354 ilköğretim ve lise okulu
yöneticilerinin öğrencilere, öğretmenlere ve ailelere yönelik eğitim
uygulamaları ve araçları ile okullarda suçu önlemeye ilişkin görüş
ve önerilerini saptamak amaçlanmıştır. Araştırmada, suçu
önlemeye yönelik uygulanan eğitim uygulamalarının öğrenci
sayısı, okulun türü, okulun kamu veya özel okul olması, okulun
suç bakımından bulunduğu çevreye göre anlamlı fark gösterdiği,
bu eğitim uygulamalarının öğrenci sayısı az olan okullar,
ilköğretim okulları, özel okullar ve okul çevresinde az suç işlenen
okullarda daha fazla gerçekleştirildiği bulunmuştur.
