Abstract (2. Language):
THE RELATIONS BETWEEN ABBASIDS AND TULUNIDS IN THE REIGN
OF CALİPH AL-MU‘TADID (279-289/892-902)
This article aims to deal with Caliph al-Mu‘tadid’s political and military relations with
Tulunids, which constituted the base for his western policy. Al-Mu‘tadid who reigned for
approximately ten years has made contracts with Tulunids two times. The first one was the
contract with Humarawayh right after al-Mu‘tadid ascended the throne. Through this
contract which made it possible to begin a new period in the political and military relations
between these states, Mousul and Djazira were secured again by Abbasids. As for the
Abbasid rule of Kınnesrin, Awasım and Sughur regions, it was realized after the second
contract with Harun b. Khumarawayh who was the fourth amir of Tulunids.
