Abstract (2. Language):
This article aims to explore the views of Husain al-Jisr who was an important figure of
his time on universe, creation, evolution and first matter (heyula). Since this scholar is
not very well known in Turkey, firstly a brief account of his life and his works will be
given. In the second part, his viwes on creation, especially the impact of modern
sciense on his thought will be examined. In addition, views of Müslim theologans and
philosophers regarding this issue will be presented in order to make the subject
accessible.
