This study was planned to observe the patient's profile that applies to Ortodontics Department in Istanbul Okmeydanı Mouth and Dental Health Hospital. 374 patients aged 6 and over were included in the study. Patients were asked to answer a questionnarire consisting of 11 questions concerning, their reasons to choose and come to the department, their socio-economic and educational conditions and their level of consciousness about orthodontic therapy. Chi-square test was used to analyse the findings. It was found that most of our patients were from Istanbul who wanted straight teeth and good facial apparances and who chose our department because it was trustworthy and economical. 90% of the patients had some kind of social security but most of them were in the low income group. Patients were found more informed on orthodontic therapy in accordance with their education level (x\nne: 23.83, p=0.000; x2baba:17.43, p=0.002). pemales were more enthusiastic for orthodontic treatment than males (%66).

Bu çalışma İstanbul Okmeydanı Ağız ve Diş Hastalıkları Hastanesi Ortodonti Bölümüne başvuran hastaların profilini incelemek amacıyla planlanmıştır. Bu amaçla yaşları 6 ve üzerinde 374 birey (206 kız, 168 erkek) araştırma kapsamına alınmıştır. Hastaların ebeveynlerine 11 sorudan oluşan anket formları verilerek kliniğimize hangi bölgeden geldikleri, kliniğimize gelme ve seçme nedenleri, hastaların sosyo-ekonomik ve eğitim seviyeleri ile ortodontik tedavi konusundaki bilinç düzeyleri belirlenmek istenmiştir. Bulguların değerlendirilmesinde Ki-kare testi uygulanmıştır. Hastaların en çok İstanbul ilinden geldiği, kliniğimizi güvenilir ve ekonomik olması nedeniyle seçtikleri, daha estetik bir görünüm ve çarpık dişlerini düzelttirmek amacıyla geldikleri belirlenmiştir. Hastaların %90'nı sosyal güvenceye sahip olup, daha çok alt gelir seviyesi statüsündedir. Eğitim seviyelerine bağlı olarak ortodonti tedavi konusunda daha bilinçli oldukları görülmüştür (x2anne: 23.83, p=0.000; x2baba:17.43, p=0.002). Kız çocuklarının erkek çocuklarına göre tedavi konusunda daha istekli olduğu belirlenmiştir(%66).
