Abstract (2. Language):
Human body has lots of defense mechanisms. One of these mechanisms is the well-known mucosal immune system. Paneth cells exist in the small intestine and enteroendocrine cells are also a part of this mucosal immune system. In this study, we studied the response of these cells when the immune system was suppressed. In the present study, we used 14 wistar Albino rats and applied immune supression in half of them. The another half of the rats were used as a control group. The materials taken from the rats were evaluated by applying histologic technics. Paneth cells, enteroendocrin cells, granülles of mast cells and their numbers were examined. Although similar morphological characteristics were observed in both the paneth cells and the enteroendocrin cells in the immune supressed and the control group, an increase in the mast cells were observed. Coke and basillus were found to be existed in the cript lumene and were also in great number. This increasing in the suppression of immune system is the result of deficient defence mechanism. On the other hand, the increase in the mast cells might be the result of a compansatory defence mechanism.
