Germinal matrix intraventricular heemorrliage ( GM - IVH) and periventricular leukomalacia are important cause of neonatal morbidity and mortality for the preterm babies who were diagnosed with cranial ultrasonograhgyi US). In our study, we have aimed to determine the GM-IVH and PVL incidence and the risk factors of the preterms who have checked out from the Zeynep Kamil Gynecology and Children Diseases Education and Research Hospital Newborn Intensive Care Unit (NICU ).Cranial US imaging have been done for 350 preterm babies who are in gestation week of 37 and under. The average birth weights and the gestation weeks were 1514.1 ± 304.52gr. ( 780 - 2450 ) and 35.24 ± 2.97 (27 -37 ) respectively. 41 ( %I1.7) babies have been diagnosed for GM-IVH and PVL. Risk factors are mechanic ventilations, asphyxia, sepsis, gestation weeks under 33 weeks and the birth weight is £ 1500 gr. We have done cranial US imaging for the preterm babies who were checked out from our NICU in the postnatal 4th week which is a better period as to the future neurological growth of the babies.

Germinal matrix intraventriküler hemoraji ( GM - IVH ) ve periveııtriküler lökomalazi ( PVL ) preterm bebeklerde cranial ultrasonografi ( US ) ile teşhis edilen önemli bir neonatal morbidite ve mortalite nedenidir Biz çalışmamızda Zeynep Kamil Kadın ve Çocuk Hastalıkları Eğitim ve Araştırma Hastanesi Yenidoğan Yoğun bakım Ünitesi' tiden taburcu edilen pretermlerde GM - IVH ve PVL insidansını ve risk faktör/erini belirlemeyi amaçladık . Gestasyon haftası 37 ve altında olan 350 preterm bebeğe cranial US ile radyolojik inceleme yapıldı .Ortalama doğum ağırlıkları 1514.1 ± 304.52gr. ( 780 - 2450 ) ve gestasyon haftası 35.24± 2.97 ( 27 - 37) arasındaydı. GM - IVH ve PVL 41 ( % 11.7 ) bebekte teşhis edildi. Anlamlı risk/aktörleri mekanik ventilasyon , asfiksi, sepsis , gestasyon haftası ( < 33 hafta ) ve doğum ağırlığı ( < 1500 gr. ) dır.. Biz çalışmamızda yenidoğan yoğun bakım ünitemizden taburcu olan preterm bebeklere ilerideki nö-romotor gelişimlerinde daha fazla belirleyici olan dönemde yani postnatal 4. haftada cranial US ile radyolojik inceleme bulgularını ve risk faktörlerini belirlemey i amaçladık .
