Abstract (2. Language):
Hypertension is an important public health problem affecting more than 1 billion people all over the world. Approximately one quarter of adult world and one third of adult Turkish population are living with this disease. Hypertension brings about important problems regarding to either diagnosis or course of management. Nearly, 25-50% of patients are not aware of their disease. Uncontrolled blood pressure accounts for 50% in patients who are aware of their disease. Blood pressure measurement is very important for either diagnosis or course of management in hypertension. In this review, purpose is to assess and compare blood pressure monitoring methods and devices. Additionally, these methods will be compared with respect to diagnosis, course of management, patient compliance and prognosis in hypertension.
