We examined the relationship between quantitative indices of dialysis adequacy and nutritional status and patient-reported uremic symptomss in 20 CAPD patients. The Kt/Vurea, weekly total creatinine clea¬rance (TCC), residual renal function (RRF), dialysis index (DI), normalized protein catabolic rate (NPCR) and serum albumin levels (SA) were calculated as in¬dices of dialysis adequacy and nutritional status. The checklist consisted of 7 uremic symptoms, each scored from 0-3. The total symptom score was negatively correlated with Kt/Vurea (p<0.01), weekly TCC (p=0.01), DI (p<0.05), NPCR (p=0.001) and SA (p<0.0001). In patients whose total symptom score was higher than 7, Kt/Vurea (p<0.001), weekly TCC (p<0.01), RRF (p< 0.01), DI (p<0.05), NPCR (p<0.0001) and SA (p< 0.0001) were significantly lo¬wer than those in others. CAPD was intensified in pa¬tients considered to be inadequately dialyzed accor¬ding to kinetic parameters with resolution of the ure-mic symptoms. In conclusion, dialysis dose prescripti¬on according to kinetic parameters is very useful in preventing uremic symptoms inpatients with CAPD.

CAPD tedavisi uygulanan 20 hastada diyaliz ve beslenme yeterliliğinin kantitatif göstergeleri ile hastanın belirttiği üremik semptomlar arasındaki ilişki incelendi. Diyaliz ve beslenme yeterliliği göstergeleri olarak Kt/Vüre, haftalık total kreatinin klirens (TKK), rezidüel renal fonksiyon (RRF), diyaliz indeksi (Di), normalize protein katabolizma hızı (NPCR) ve serum albümin düzeyi (SA) hesaplandı. Ayrıca, 7 üremik semptomdan oluşan listeye 0-3 arasında değişen pu¬an verilerek, toplam semptom skoru belirlendi. Semp¬tom skoru ile Kt/Vüre (p<0.01), haftalık TKK (p=0.01), Di (p<0.05), NPCR (p=0.001) ve SA (p<0.0001) arasında anlamlı negatif korelasyonlar saptandı. Yine, semptom skoru 7'nin üzerinde olan hastalarda ortalama Kt/Vüre (p<0.001), haftalık TKK (p<0.01), RRF (p<0.01), Di (p<0.05), NPCR (p<0.0001) ve S A (p<0.0001) değerleri anlamlı ola¬rak düşük bulundu. Kinetik parametrelere göre yeter¬siz diyaliz oldukları düşünülen hastalarda, diyaliz do¬zu arttırımı üremik semptomların gerilemesine yol açtı. Sonuç olarak, CAPD tedavisi uygulanan hasta¬larda kinetik parametrelere göre diyaliz dozu tayini, hastaları üremik semptomlardan korumada oldukça, paradidir.
