Mankind has achieved the action of production since he was created. Man has been created having this talent inherently. In this way, civilizations have developed. From their existence, they have belonged to some belief. Research shows that, in the establishment of the civilizations, religions have had a considerable importance from the old ages on. The civilization instances that researchers have revealed have been shown to have either direct or indirect relationships with religions.
Belief, unlike some arguments that it anaesthetizes people, has contributed to human’s productivity. In addition to this direct relation, while conducting the religious rituals, the idea of producing occurs and this causes the birth of the civilizations. The contribution of the celestial and non-celestial faiths to civilizations, therefore, is undeniable. While some of them became religions by means of direct orders and some changed into religions from people’s own philosophical movements, and they have both similar features. Mankind, therefore, has not suddenly reached this technological and economic level. In contrast, he underwent a long process lasting millions of years.
It can be said that while reaching this period, ziggurats, churches, synagogues and mosques have all contributed. Those places are monuments of civilizations. The development of elegance, comfort and art around these places have been be highlighted. On one hand, the tolerance and love as the common points of religions have contributed to civilization, on the other hand because of the feeling of dependence on these religions people have demolished these civilizations.
The temples having some holy meaning such as To meet, meeting, the thing which brings together, alliance, unity, agreement have a great contribution to civilization. Mosque-madrasah-kulliye, church-monastery have become important centers. Since there was no racial or religious discrimination in these places, in many cities established with these places, again, such discriminations were not confronted.

Araştırmacıların ortaya koydukları medeniyet ürünlerinin önemli bir kesiminin dinlerle doğrudan ya da dolaylı olarak bağlantıları vurgulanmıştır.
Din, insanları bazılarının dediği gibi afyon gibi uyuşturmamış, aksine insanın üretken olmasına katkıda bulunmuştur. Bu doğrudan olmakla beraber dini ritüeller gerçekleştirilirken üretmek fikri doğmuş ve medeniyetlerin ortaya çıkmasına neden olmuştur. İnsanlık, bugün gelmiş olduğu, teknolojik ve ekonomik seviyeye birdenbire gelmemiştir, milyonlarca yıl sürdüğü tahmin edilen bir süreçten geçerek bugün ki konumuna ulaşmıştır.
Bu düzeye gelmede Zigguratlardan, Kiliselere, Sinagoglardan, Camilere kadar bütün tapınakların katkısı vardır. Bu tapınaklar birer medeniyet abideleridir. Bu abidelerin etrafında oluşan zerafet, kentlileşme, konfor ve sanatın gelişimi vurgulanmıştır. Dinlerin ortak noktaları olan hoşgörü ve sevgi medeniyetlerin oluşmasına katkıda bulundukları gibi bazen kendi inançlarına mensubiyet duygusu ile medeniyetlerin yıkılışına da sebebiyet vermişlerdir.
Toplamak, toplantı, toplayıcı, toplayan, kaplayan, ittifak, birlik, anlaşma gibi ulvi anlamlar yüklenen tapınakların medeniyete katkısı yadsınamayacak kadar yüksek olduğu görülmüştür.
