Abstract (2. Language):
The novel named Kafamda Bir Tuhaflık (A Strangeness in my Head in English) by Orhan Pamuk who is one of the pioneers of postmodern Turkish literature contains different qualities from his other novels in the context of event, state and space. The novel, has an editing that is included events and circumstances in the life of Mevlut and in terms of those events and circumstances Turkey’s formation process after the 1960’s with facts as migration, conflict of right and left, coup d’etats, transition to the liberal economy and so on, who is protagonist of the novel and should be viewed in a sense as an “other” resident of Istanbul, can be viewed as a narrative of the other Istanbul with all these qualities. At the same time, the aforementioned novel presents richness with regard to both style and theme. We can interpret the novel’s style as an intersection of styles of different text genres (letter, poetry, newspaper etc.). In addition to this, when we regard the aforementioned novel in terms of thematic, we can say that some events -such as loneliness, love, poverty, homicide- contribute its semantic aspect. In this review we will try to disclose the aforementioned novel’s structural elements and relations between these elements by approaching in the consideration of Tzvetan Todorov’s specific structuralist method.

Postmodern Türk edebiyatının öncü isimlerinden birisi olan Orhan Pamuk’un
Kafamda Bir Tuhaflık romanı olay, durum ve mekân bağlamında diğer
romanlarından farklı nitelikler barındırır. Romanın baş-kişisi olan, İstanbul’un bir
anlamda “öteki” sakinlerinden birisi olarak görülmesi gereken Mevlut’un
yaşamındaki olay ve durumların ve bu olay ve durumlar üzerinden Türkiye’nin
1960’lardan sonra göç, sağ-sol çatışması, siyasi darbe, liberal ekonomiye geçiş vs.
gibi olgularla birlikte hızlanan toplumsal formasyon sürecinin yansımalarının dahil
olduğu kurguya sahip roman, tüm bu özellikleri ile “öteki İstanbul”un bir anlatısı
olarak da görülebilir. Aynı zamanda söz konusu roman, hem üslup hem de izlek
açısından bir zenginlik arz eder. Romanın üslubunu, yani farklımetin türlerine
(mektup, şiir, gazete vs.) ait üslupların bileşkesi olarak yorumlayabiliriz. Bununla
birlikte söz konusu romana izleksel açıdan baktığımızda, yalnızlık, aşk, yoksulluk,
cinayet gibi olguların onun anlambilimsel yönüne katkı sunduğunu söyleyebiliriz.
Bu incelememizde, söz konusu romanı Tzvetan Todorov’un özgül yapısalcı
yönteminin ışığında ele alarak onun yapısal unsurlarını ve bu unsurlar arasındaki
bağıntılarını açığa çıkarmaya çalışacağız.
