Abstract (2. Language):
Objective: To determine the frequency of trauma and causes of trauma in a primary care emergency service. Methods: In this retrospective study, the medical records of patients admitted to a primary care emergency service between 1 January 2003 and 31 July 2006 constituted the study materials. According to medical records, falls, sharp injuries, foreign bodies, poisoning, traffic accidents, violence, electric shocks and orthope¬dic traumas were noted. Results: There were 1.323 (34.3%) trauma patients among the 3.859 patients of emergency service. The mean age of the trauma patients was 24.04±8.5 years and 533 (39.5%) were female. The first three causes of trauma were penetrating injuries (n=601, 15.6%), burns (n=243, 6.3%) and orthopedic traumas (n=227, %5.9%). Taking into account that more than one procedure could be applied to one patient, referral, wound dressing and minor sur¬gical procedure rate was 10.5%, 69.7% and 17.8%, respectively. Conclusions: This study shows that more than one third of emer¬gency admissions were due to trauma in this primary care unit. The importance of education about trauma for primary care physi¬cians is apparent.

Amaç: Bu çalışmanın amacı birinci basamakta acil serviste görülen travmaların sıklık ve çeşidini belirlemektir. Yöntem: Bu retrospektif çalışma, 1.1.2003-31.7.2006 tarihleri arasında sağlık merkezi acil servisine başvuranları kapsamaktadır. Travmalar kapsamında düşme, kesici-delici alet yaraları, ya¬bancı cisim, zehirlenme, trafik kazası, darp, elektrik çarpması ve küçük ortopedik travmalar (çarpma-burkulma-ezilme) ele alındı. Bulgular: Acil servise başvuran 3.859 hastadan 1.323'ü (%34.3) travma tanısı almıştı. Travmaya uğrayanların yaş ortalaması 24.04±8.5 yıl, 523'ü (%39.5) kadındı. ilk üç sırada kesici-delici alet yaralanmaları (n=601, %15.6), yanıklar (n=243, %6.3) ve minör ortopedik travmalar (n=227, %5.9) yer alıyordu. Bir hasta için birden fazla müdahale yapılabildiği göz önüne alınarak, %10.5'i (n=138), sevk edilmiş, %69.7'sine (n=922) yara bakımı, %17.8'ine (n=235) küçük cerrahi girişim yapılmıştı. Sonuç: Ele aldığımız gruptaki başvuruların üçte birinden fazlası travmaya bağlıydı. Birinci basamak sağlık merkezi çalışanlarının travma konusundaki bilgi ve becerilerinin artırılmasının önemi or¬tadadır.
