Abstract (2. Language):
Objective: Obesity was associated with various dermatologic diseases like acanthosis nigricans, acrochordons, keratosis pilaris, striae disten-sae, adiposis dolorosa, lymphedema, chronic venous insufficieny, plantar hyperkeratosis, cellulitis, various skin infections, hydradenitis supurativa, psoriasis, insulin resistance syndrome and may cause sig¬nificant changes in endocrine parameters. Hyperandrogenism and hir-sutism are the most important ones among them. However relation¬ship between obesity and hirsutism severity has not been document¬ed well in literature despite the fact that relationship between obesity and hirsutism is known well. The aim of this study is to investigate the relationship between obesity and hirsutism severity in obese and non-obese hirsute women. Methods: A total of 38 obese (18 hyperandrogenemic, 20 nor-moandrogenemic) and 38 non-obese (18 hyperandrogenemic, 20 normoandrogenemic) premenopausal hirsute women who were matched according to age were included in the study. Patients underwent an appropriate endocrinologic analysis for this pur¬pose. Hirsutism was defined as Ferriman-Gallwey (FG) score >8. Obesity was defined as BMI>27 kg/m2. Results: Hirsutism score was significantly higher in obese women compared to non-obese women (p<0.05). Severity of hirsutism was significantly higher in obese women compared to non-obese (p<0.001). There was not a significant difference between hyper-androgenemic and normoandrogenemic obese and non-obese women in terms of hirsutism severity (p>0.05). Conclusions: Obesity increases hirsutism severity.
Abstract (Original Language):
Yöntem: Çalışmaya yaşa göre eşleştirilmiş 38 obez (18'i hiperan-drojenemik, 20'si normoandrojenemik) ve 38 obez olmayan (18'i hiperandrogenemik, 20'si normoandrojenemik) premenapozal hir-şut kadın dahil edildi.
