Abstract (2. Language):
In this study, reinforcement components in brake pad materials used in brake systems of vehicles were analyzed experimentally. The reinforcements are consisted of copper powder, rock wool and aramid pulp and effect of these materials on the brake pad tribological and physical properties was investigated. The samples in which the reinforcements were added to the powdered mixture at the different proportions were manufactured at constant conditions and tested on the Chase type friction tester. The result of these tests, the coefficient of the friction related to the temperature, coefficient of the friction related to the braking number and wear rate were obtained and the samples were compared with each other. The density, surface roughness and hardness of the brake pad samples including reinforcements at the different proportions were measured for the comparison of the physical properties. From results, it was seen that the reinforcement materials have important effects on braking performance, the brake pad service life increases and more controlled and safe braking obtains in case of proper proportions using.
