Abstract (2. Language):
The response of cortisol, an adrenal cortex hormone, to exercise may show variations. The changes in the release of cortisol that occur with exercise are related to the levels of adrenocorticotrophic hormone (ACTH) originating from the adenohypophysis. The aim of this study was to establish the accute effect of submaximal exercise on the levels of ACTH , cortisol and leucocyte formula of 10 volunteer footballers. The mean age of the subjects was 17.2±1.31 years, with a mean training-age of 5.4±1.89 years, and a mean BMI of 21.25±1.69kg/m².Venous blood samples were obtained from the subjects before and after training. Plasma ACTH and cortisol levels were determined using radioimmunoassay (RAI) and electro-chemoluminecense, respectively. Leucocytes count and the leucocyte formula were determined by a 24 parameter hemogram analyzer. Statistical comparisons were performed using the Wilcoxon signed Ranks test. Mean ACTH levels before and after exercise were 61.00±8.90 and 73.50±16.86pg/ml (p=0.007), while mean pre-exercise and post-exercise cortisol levels were 14.51±4.81μg/dl and 14.24±7.80 (p>0.05) respectively. Pre-exercise and post-exercise neutrophil percentage were 72.7±5.28 and 69.83±6.12 (p=0.036), pre-exercise and post-exercise of lymphocytes and monocytes percentages were 23.82±6.34, 20.80±5.39 (p>0.005) and 4.39±1.48, 5.05±4.09 (p>0.05), respectively. Mean lactic acid levels and hematocrit values of subjects pre-exercise and post-exercise were 1.71±0.81mm01/L and 3.16±2.11mm01/L, (p=0.005), 42.48%±4.31 and 41.02%±4.67, (p=0.012) respectively. In conclusion, after long-term submaximal exercise, ACTH levels and percentage of neutrophils increased, no significant changes in cortisol levels and percentage of lymphocytes were determined.
Abstract (Original Language):
ACTH antrenman öncesi 61.00±8.90, antrenman sonrası 73.50±16.86pg/ml (p=0.007), Kortizol antrenman öncesi 14.51±4.81μg/dl, antrenman sonrası 14.24±7.80 (p>0.05), Lökosit sayısı antrenman öncesi 8.81±1.48, antrenman sonrası 10.01±2.31, Nötrofil oranı antrenman öncesi 69.83±6.12 antrenman sonrası 72.7±5.28(p=0.036), lenfosit oranı antrenman öncesi 23.82±6.34 antrenman sonrası 20.80±5.39 (p>0.005), Monosit oranı antrenman öncesi 4.39±1.48 antrenman sonrası 5.05±4.09 (p>0.05) olarak ölçülmüştür.
