Abstract (2. Language): 
The purpose of this study is to identify teacher and student views regarding the Placement Test (SBS). The research was undertaken with primary school teachers from Bolu central district (n=100) and students who were given the test during (n=100) 2009-2010 educational year. The study employing the survey model utilizes qualitative research methods. Data was collected by using interview forms which were later analyzed by content analysis. At the end of the study it was found that SBS creates feelings such as stress, fear, anxiety and curiosity and has an important effect on the identification of the future educational lives and professions of the students. SBS prevents students from socializing. Differences have been detected between the courses SBS covers and the courses studied at school. Students engage in activities such as answering test questions, taking trial tests, answering preparatory courses, receiving counseling, going to the courses and private tutoring. School administrators take the exam results very seriously. Implementations that are based on student-teacher-parent collaboration and that use selection based on ability and interests have been suggested.

Bu araştırmanın amacı, Seviye Belirleme Sınavına (SBS) yönelik öğretmen ve öğrenci görüşlerini belirlemektir. Araştırma, 2009-2010 eğitim-öğretim yılında Bolu merkez ilçe ilköğretim kurumlarında görev yapan öğretmenler (n=100) ile sınava giren öğrenciler (n=100) üzerinde yürütülmüştür. Tarama modelindeki araştırmada nitel araştırma yöntemi kullanılmıştır. Görüşme formu ile veriler toplanmış, içerik analiz tekniği ile çözümlenmiş ve sayısallaştırılmıştır. Araştırma sonucunda SBS’nin stres, korku, heyecan, merak gibi duygular uyandırıp, öğrencilerin gelecekteki eğitim hayatı ve mesleğini belirlemede oldukça önemli etkiye sahip olduğu ortaya çıkmıştır. SBS öğrencilerin sosyalleşmelerini engellemektedir. SBS’nin kapsadığı dersler ile okulda işlenen dersler arasında eşitsizlik bulunmaktadır. Öğrenciler SBS’ye yönelik test çözme, deneme sınavı, etüt-yetiştirme kursu, rehberlik, dershaneye gitme, özel ders alma gibi etkinlikler yapmaktadırlar. Okul yöneticileri sınav sonuçlarına aşırı önem vermektedir. SBS yerine yetenek ve ilgilere göre seçim yapan, öğrenciöğretmen- veli işbirliğine dayalı uygulamalar önerilmiştir.
