Abstract (2. Language): 
Early childhood programs prepare children for primary education; they provide opportunities to enhance and complement their educational experiences at home and can help combat linguistic and social disadvantages. The purpose of this study is to determine the expectations of the families whose children receive preschool education, families' levels of the fulfillment of their expectations, and the changes they observe in their children. Data collection was done, using a qualitative research method, namely, semi-structured intervievvs in Düzce with eight mothers with low socio-economic status and educational level whose children received preschool education. The results reveal that preschool education help children develop their ability to express themselves, socialize, establish communication with their families, peers, and their teachers, thus, develop more academically and socially.

Erken çocukluk eğitimi çocukları ilköğretime hazırlayan, evdeki eğitim ve yetişme olanaklarını destekleyen, dil ve sosyal açıdan var olan eşitsizlikleri erken dönemde ortadan kaldırmayı amaçlayan bir programdır. Bu araştırmada çocukları okul öncesi eğitime devam eden ailelerin bu eğitimden beklentileri, beklentilerinin karşılanma düzeyi ve çocuklarında gözledikleri değişimlerin belirlenmesi amaçlanmaktadır. Nitel araştırma yöntemlerinden olgubilim deseni ile yürütülen çalışmada Düzce ilinde, çocuğu okul öncesi eğitime devam etmiş 8 anne, amaçlı, homojen örnekleme yöntemiyle sosyo-ekonomik ve eğitim seviyesi düşük ailelerden seçilmişlerdir. Araştırma bulgularına göre çocukların kendini ifade etme yeteneğinin geliştiği, sosyalleştiği, ailesi, akranları ve öğretmenleriyle daha kolay iletişime geçebildiği, dolayısıyla akademik ve sosyal olarak daha fazla doyum sağladığı ifade edilmiştir.
