Abstract (2. Language):
In this study, the first sociology curriculum, which was developed in 1924 and the
course book, “İçtimaiyat”, written according to this curriculums content by Mehmet Izzet,
was analysed from the viewpoint of its political content. In the foundation process of
Republic, there is a significant content about political social changes and reforms.
Particularly, there is an important content about nation – nationalism, state – citizen, family,
the social status of woman ect. This is a political content more than a scientific, sociological
content.

Bu çalışmada ülkemizde 1924 yılında geliştirilen ve uygulanan ilk sosyoloji dersi
öğretim programı ve bu program doğrultusunda Mehmet İzzet tarafından yazılan “Lise
İçtimaiyat” ders kitabının içeriği vatandaş yetiştirmeye yönelik siyasal işlev açısından analiz
edilmiştir. Cumhuriyetin kuruluşu sürecindeki toplumsal, siyasal değişiklikler, reformlar,
öğretim programı ve ders kitabında açık bir şekilde ortaya çıkmaktadır. Özellikle millet –
milliyetçilik, devlet - vatandaş kavramları, sosyal alanda yapılan değişikliklere yapılan vurgu,
aile yapısı, kadının sosyal statüsü gibi konular sosyolojik olmaktan çok siyasal içeriği ile
dikkat çekmektedir.
