ANTRAL SEPTA VARLIĞI İLE MAKSİLLER SİNÜS YÜKSEKLİĞİ ARASINDAKİ İLİŞKİ

Abstract (2. Language):
Objectives: To investigate the relationship between the height of the maxillary sinus and presence of antral septa using dental computerized tomography (DVT). Material and methods: In 74 patients, the height of the maxillary sinus was measured on the coronal images obtained with DVT scans at a reference point tangential to the deepest portion of the convex maxillary sinus inferior border. The presence of antral septa was explored on the images of axial images. The correlation between these variables was assessed by using the Pearson's correlation coefficient. Results: The prevalence of antral septa was seen in 25.7 % in our study. The mean value of the height of the maxillary sinus was seen as 35 mm. We found that there was no statistically significant relationship between the presence of antral septa and the height of the maxillary sinus (P > 0.05). Conclusion: It must be taken into consideration that there is no relation between the presence of antral septa and the height of the maxillary sinus for avoiding possible complications before operations performed to the maxillary sinus, especially planning the sinus lift.
