POSTURAL VE MORFOLOJİK DEĞİŞKENLERLE OMURGA SAGİTTAL EĞRİLİKLERİNİN AÇIKLANABÎLİRLİĞİ

THE EXPLANATION OF SPINAL CURVATURE WITH POSTURAL AND MORPHOLOGICAL VARIABLES

Journal Name:

Publication Year:

Abstract (2. Language):
In the present study, lateral cephalometric head films of 180 subjects, 90 males and 90 females, which were taken ai natural head position were used. The materia] was divided into three age groups, 8,11, and )5 years of age. Variables concerning craniofacial morphology, cervical lordosis (CVT/EVT), and head posture were measured from the lateral cephalometric films. The curvatures of thoracic kyphosis (KTPOS) and lumbar lordosis {KLPOS) were measured by a kyphometer. In order to determine whether there was any relationship between cervical and lumbar lordoses, thoracic kyphosis, and postural, morphological, and spinal variables, correlation analysis was applied, It has been found that cervical lordosis showed significant correlations with all postural variables, anterior and posterior face heights, and anteroposterior dimensions of mandible. NeiLher KTPOS nor KLPOS showed any correlation with the postural variables. Lumbar lordosis (KLPOS) showed significant correlations with anterior and posterior face heights, and anteroposterior dimension of maxilla. Multiple lineer regression analysis was applied to determine the best explanatory variables of spinal curvature. Cervical lordosis gave a high R2 value with OPT/VER and EVT/VER variables but thoracic kyphosis and lumbar lordosis gave low values.
