Abstract (2. Language):
Basic component s of direct digital imaging systems are a conventional x-ray machine, a receptor, a computer with dedicated software and ve monitor. The receptor used is a scintillator-based charge coupled device or radiation-hardened charge coupled device or a storage-phosphor screen. Very low dose of radiation is necessary for imaging and this image can be viewed on the screen in a few seconds. Controst enhancement, inverse image, rotation, zoom, magnification and pseudocolouring are some facilities of the DDI systems. The studies showed that these systems will replace conventional x-ray imaging in the future.
