The Maronite historiography has a great importance for the history of the Middle East but, especially the history of Lebanon. The Maronite historiography is an important source for those who desire to study over the periods of the Mamluks and the Crusades. The first scientific historiography among the Maronite started with Duwayhi who is known as the father of the history of Maronite.

this article, we will study the life and works of istefan ed-Duwayhi who is one of the most important characters of the Maronite historiography and who comes from the tarditional clerical.

Orta Doğu ve özelliklede Lübnan tarihi açısından Maruni tarih yazıcılığının büyük bir önemi vardır. Özellikle Haçlı ve Memlük dönemleri ile ilgili araştırma yapmak isteyen araştırıcılar için Maruni tarih yazıcılığı, önemli bir materyal kaynak durumundadır. Maruniler arasında ilk defa bilimsel anlamda tarih yazıcılığı, Maruni tarihinin babası olarak bilinen Duveyhi ile başlamıştır.
Biz, bu makalede din adamı geleneğinden gelen ve Maruni tarih yazıcılığının önemli şahsiyetlerinden olan İstefan ed-Duveyhi'nin hayatı ve eserlerini incelemeye çalışcağız.
