Abstract (2. Language):
This study aims to display William Golding’s novel Pincher Martin (1996), as an existentialist work. In doing so, it analyses the novel in the light of the major principles of existentialism, which are the denial of God, struggle against death, the sense of alienation, freedom of choice, suffering as a part of the world, self-deception, the throwness of man (facticity), and the use of mythological characters. Thus, it reinforces the notion that Golding, despite his rejection, has created an existentialist novel.
