Bullying is a serious problem, because the child can not escape from the bully here and can not ask help from their parents. The purpose of this study was to investigate the victimization frequencies among the students of day and boarding schools, to compare them. The participants were 248 students from grades 4-5-6 in Bursa, from a day and a boarding elementary school. By means of a questionnaire the victimization frequencies were measured. The results indicated that bullying was common and most often carried out in verbal and physical manner and they these were significantly higher for boarding students. Bullies were typically male. It was a small percentage of students who told their situation to an adult in their school. It was smaller among boarding students. The most effective way of coping this is to prevent bullying. The most efficient tool for bully proofing the schools is teacher education.

Yatılı okullarda zorbalık ciddi bir problemdir, çünkü burada çocuk zorbadan kaçamaz ve ailesinden yardım isteyemez. Bu çalışmanın amacı gündüzlü ve yatılı ilköğretim okullarında öğrenim gören öğrencilerin zorbalığa uğrama oranları başta olmak üzere bu konudaki çeşitli sorulara cevap aranmış ve gündüzlü - yatılı gruplar bu açılardan karşılaştırılmıştır. Bursa’da gündüzlü ve yatılı iki ilköğretim okulunun 4., 5. ve 6.sınıflarından 248 öğrenciye Colorado Okul İklimi Anketi uygulanmış ve kurban olma oranları incelenmiştir. Veriler yüzdelik hesapları ve Kay-Kare testi ile incelenmiştir. Sonuçlar zorbalığın ilköğretimde uluslararası yazınla tutarlı olarak yaygınlığını göstermektedir. En sık sözel ve fiziksel zorbalık bildirilmiştir ve oran yatılı grupta anlamlı biçimde yüksektir. Her iki grupta da zorbalar daha çok erkektir. Her iki grupta durumunu öğretmene anlattığını söyleyenlerin oranları düşüktür, ancak yatılı grupta anlamlı olarak daha aşağı düzeydedir. Zorbalıkla baş etmenin en etkili yolu henüz ortaya çıkmadan önlenmesidir. Bu anlamda okulları zorbalıktan arındırmanın en etkili biçimi öğretmenlerin eğitimidir.
