Abstract (2. Language):
Mathematical abilities of students gain significance in terms of chemistry education which possesses
interdisciplinary relationships. A reflection of this situation is seen in the instruction of the subject of
gases. Drawing graphs and commenting on them constitutes a considerable part of teaching of this
subject as well as theoretical knowledge and daily life applications. The aim of the conducted study is
to reveal the ability of university first year Science Teaching Program students evaluate the graphs
related to gas laws about P - 1/V, P-t, V-n and how their abilities change after the instruction of the
subject. At this respect, a weak experimental study was conducted with 30 students. Data was
collected with the help of a test which involved three different graphs prepared by the researchers
and analyzed by means of quantitative methods. The findings of the study have been discussed in the
light of the related literature.

Öğrencilerin matematiksel becerileri, interdisipliner ilişkiler gösteren kimya eğitiminde ön plana
çıkmaktadır. Bu durumun bir yansıması, gazlar konusunun öğretiminde görülmektedir. Teorik bilgilerle
günlük yaşam uygulamalarının yanında grafik çizme-yorumlama becerileri, bu konunun öğretiminin
önemli bir kısmını oluşturmaktadır. Yapılan çalışmanın amacı, üniversite birinci sınıf seviyesindeki Fen
Bilgisi Öğretmenliği öğrencilerinin, P-1/V, P-t, V-n için çizilen gaz yasaları ile ilgili grafikleri nasıl
değerlendirdiklerinin ortaya çıkarılması ve öğrencilerin bu becerilerinin, konunun öğretimi sonucunda
nasıl bir değişim gösterdiğinin belirlenmesidir. Bu kapsamda, 30 öğrenci ile zayıf deneysel desende bir
araştırma yürütülmüştür. Veriler, araştırmacılar tarafından geliştirilen ve 3 farklı grafik içeren bir test
yardımıyla toplanmış olup nicel yöntemlerle analiz edilmiştir. Araştırma bulguları, literatür ışığında
tartışılmıştır.
