The aim of the study is to determine by variables newspaper usage in the 8
th
grade Turkish
Republic Revolution History and Kemalism lesson and instructors’ interesting attitudes about
newspaper usage. Research samples are composed of 440 instructors working in the center of
Ankara and lecturing this lesson. The research was carried out according to a descriptive
scanning (survey) model. A survey as five point likert scale was implemented on the instructors in
accordance with the aim of the study. Standard deviation, t test and Anova tests were used for
data analysis. Instructors’ beliefs and attitudes about newspaper usage in this course are
generally positive. Suggestions have been presented in the light of the research data. Significant
differences were found according to their schools and year of experience variables. Teachers
teaching at private schools showed more positive beliefs on the use of newspaper in the class
when compared to the teachers teaching state schools, also there is a significant difference in
favor of teachers with 6-10 years of experience. It can be said that this result may stem from
private schools have more physical opportunities than state schools.

Bu çalışmanın amacı 8. Sınıf Türkiye Cumhuriyeti İnkılâp Tarihi ve Atatürkçülük dersinde
gazetelerin kullanımı ve öğretmenlerin gazetelerin kullanımına ilişkin tutumlarını bazı
değişkenlere göre belirlemektir. Araştırmanın örneklemini Ankara merkezinde görev yapan ve bu
dersi veren 440 öğretmen oluşturmaktadır. Araştırma betimsel bir tarama (survey) modeline göre
yapılmıştır. Veri toplama aracı olarak araştırması tarafından 5’li likert tipte geliştirilen “ Türkiye
Cumhuriyeti İnkılâp Tarihi ve Atatürkçülük Dersinde Gazete Kullanıma İlişkin Öğretmen
Görüşleri Ölçeği” Öğretmenlere çalışmanın amacına uygun olarak uygulanmıştır. Verilerin
analizinde standart sapma, t testi ve ANOVA testleri kullanılmıştır. Araştırmanın sonuçlarına
göre öğretmenlerin bu derste gazete kullanılmasına ilişkin tutumları genel olarak olumludur.
Araştırmaya katılan öğretmenlerin görev yaptıkları okullara göre ve öğretmenlerin mesleki
kıdemlerine göre farklılık çıkmıştır. Özel okulda görev yapan öğretmenler devlet okullarında
görev yapan öğretmenlere göre, 6-10 yıl arası görev yapan öğretmenlerin 21 yıl ve üzeri görev
yapan öğretmenlere göre gazete kullanmada daha olumlu bir inanç göstermiştir. Bu sonuç özel
okulların gazete kullanama konusunda fiziki olarak daha uygun olmasından kaynaklandığı
söylenebilir
