Genç Yetişkin Üniversite Öğrencilerinde Farklı Türde Egzersiz Uygulamalarının Sosyal Fizik Kaygı Düzeyine Etkisi

Effects of Different Exercise Interventions on Social Physique Anxiety in Young Adult Male University Students

Publication Year:

Abstract (2. Language):
The purpose of this study was to determine the effects of aerobic (Swimming, Cycling, Running) and resistance type (Swiss- Ball) exercises on the social physique anxiety (SPA) in young adult male university students. The sample of the current study consisted of 103 male university students ranging from 19 to 27 in age ( age= 21.89 1.70year). Participants were divided into three groups, namely the aerobic (n=34), swiss ball (n=27) and the control (n=35) groups. While the participants in the aerobic and swiss ball groups continuing exercise sessions (Monday-Wednesday- Friday) of 40 minutes per day and three times a week, participants in the control group did not attend any regular physical activity. Repeated measures ANOVA analyses revelaed that SPA scores of the participants in the swiss ball group, compared to the participants in the aerobic and control group, had significantly decreased . On the other hand, no significant differences were observed when SPA scores of participants in the aerobic group were compared to SPA scores of participants in the control group. Consequently, it can be said that rather than the aerobic exercises, which are mostly used to improve body related perceptions, resistance type exercises aiming to enhance muscle strength were more effective in improving social physique anxiety scores in young adult men.
Abstract (Original Language):
Bu çalışmanın amacı, 10 haftalık aerobik (yüzme, bisiklet ve koşu) ve direnç türü (Swiss-ball) egzersizlerinin genç yetişkin erkek üniversite öğrencilerinde sosyal fizik kaygı (SFK) üzerine etkilerini belirlemektir. Çalışmanın örneklemini yaşları 19-27 arasında değişen 103 erkek ( yaş= 21.89 1.70yıl) üniversite öğrencisi oluşturmaktadır. Katılımcılar aerobik (n=34), swiss ball (n=27) ve kontrol olmak (n=35) üzere üç gruba ayrılmışlardır. Swiss ball ve aerobik grubundaki katılımcılar haftada üç (Pazartesi-Çarşamba- Cuma) seans ve günde 40 dakika olmak üzere 10 hafta boyunca egzersizlere devam ederken, kontrol grubundaki katılımcılar herhangi bir fiziksel aktiviteye katılmamışlardır. Tekrarlı ölçümlerde varyans analizi sonuçları, Swiss ball egzersizlerine katılan bireylerin 10 haftalık sürede sosyal fizik kaygı düzeylerinin hem kontrol hem de aerobik egzersiz grubundaki bireylere oranla anlamlı biçimde düştüğünü belirlemiştir. Buna karşın 10 haftalık aerobik egzersizlere katılan bireylerin sosyal fizik kaygı düzeyleri kontrol grubu ile karşılaştırıldığında anlamlı farklılık olmadığı gözlenmiştir. Sonuç olarak, bedene yönelik psikolojik tutumların iyileştirilmesi amacıyla kullanılan aerobik egzersiz uygulamalarından ziyade kas kuvvetini artırmaya yönelik direnç türü egzersizlerin genç yetiskin erkeklerde sosyal fizik kaygı değerlerini düşürmede daha etkili bir egzersiz türü olabileceği söylenebilir.
