The purpose of this study was to determine the effects of 10 weeks of physical activity program on physical fitness. 50 female university students of METU volunteered to participate in this study and were randomly assigned to experimental (n=25, X age = 21.04±1.39) and control (n=25, X age = 21.04±1.74) group. The experimental group participated in sessions of 50 min per day, 3 days per week (aerobic dance for 1 day, step dance for 2 days) for 10 weeks with 60-80 % of their heart rate reserve. During this period the control group did not participate in any physical activity. Before and after the 10 week period, subjects' flexibility, muscular endurance, muscular strength, body composition and cardiovascular endurance were determined. For statistical analysis Independent t Test was used. Before and after the 10 week period, significant difference was found in flexibility (t = 3.992, p<0.01), muscular endurance (t = 2.213, p<0.05) and cardiovascular endurance (t = 2.186, p<0.05). On the other hand in muscular strength and body composition parameters no significant difference was found between experimental and control group (p>0.05). In conclusion, 10 weeks of physical acitvity program was effective in improving flexibility, muscular endurance and cardiovascular endurance however was ineffective in muscular strength and body composition.

Bu çalışmanın amacı, 10 haftalık fiziksel etkinlik programına katılımın fiziksel uygunluk üzerine etkisini incelemektir. Çalışmaya ODTÜ'de okuyan 50 bayan öğrenci gönüllü olarak katılmış ve rastgele yöntemle deney (n=25, X yaş: 21.04±1.39) ve kontrol (n=25, X yaş: 21.04±1.74) gruplarına ayrılmıştır. Deney grubu maksimum kalp atım rezervlerinin % 60-80' inde, haftada 3 gün (1 gün aerobik dans, 2 gün step), günde 50 dk olmak üzere 10 haftalık programa katılmışlardır. Bu süre içerisinde kontrol grubu hiçbir düzenli aktiviteye katılmamıştır. 10 haftalık program öncesinde ve sonrasında deneklerin esneklik, kassal dayanıklılık, kassal kuvvet, vücut yağ oranı ve kardiovasküler dayanıklılıkları değerlendirilmiştir. Verilerin değerlendirilmesinde grupların ön-test, son-test fark dağılımlarına Bağımsız Gruplarda t Test uygulanmıştır. 10 haftalık program öncesi ve sonrasında esneklik (t = 3.992, ÇKO.01), kassal dayanıklılık (t = 2.213, p<0.05) ve kardiovasküler dayanıklılık (t = 2.186, p<0.05) parametrelerinde deney ve kontrol grubu arasında anlamlı fark bulunurken, kassal kuvvet ve vücut yağ oranında anlamlı fark bulunmamıştır (p>0.05). Sonuç olarak, 10 haftalık fiziksel etkinliğin esneklik, kassal dayanıklılık ve kardiovasküler dayanıklılığı geliştirmede etkili olduğu ancak kassal kuvvet ve vücut yağ oranı üzerine bir etkisi olmadığı bulunmuştur.
