In hydrocarbon intoxication, gastric lavage and efforts that induce vomiting are not recommended and patients are treated with supportive procedures and observation. Pulmonary complications are common and effect prognosis. This study is undertaken to investigate the risk of spontaneous pulmonary aspiration in kerosene ingestion. Rabbits were grouped in 2 randomly with 10 in each. Kerosene was instilled directly into I he stomach through an orogastric tube and via an angiocath through mmilaparotomy to the first and second groups respectively. Animals were sacrificed afler 4S hours and both lungs were removed for hislopatholngical examination. I' I idrokarbon zehirlenmelerinde gastrik lavaj ve kusturma önerilmemekte, destekleyici tedavi ve hastanın ızlenilmesiyle yelinilmektedir. Hu zehirlenmelerde pulmoner komplikasyonlar sık görülmekte ve hastanın prognozıınıı belirlemektedir. Hu çalışma gazyağı zehirlenmelerinde, akciğere spontan aspirasyon riskini anıştırmak amacı ile yapıldı. Denekler herhiri onar tavşandan oluşan 2 gruba ayrıldı. Birinci gruba orogastrık tuple. II. gruba mini laparatomi yaparak direkt mideye gazyağı verildi. 4H saat sonra denekler öldürüldü ve akciğerler histopatolofik inceleme için alındı. Histopatolofik lezyonların gruplara dağılımı istatistiksel olarak değerlendirildi ve gruplar arasında anlamlı bir fark bulunmadı.[Turgut Özal Tıp Merkezi Dergisi 1(3): 1S2-1S4.I994]
