Small skin incision for the treatment of mandible fracture

Purpose: The aim of this study was the treatment of mandibular fractures with short skin incision scar. Materials and Methods: Ten male and 8 female patients with mandibular fractures were treated by rigit internal fixation with the use of mini titanium plate and screw. Only mucosal incisions was preferred for the rigit internal fixation of the anterior mandibular fractures. In the posterior region fractures of the mandible, for the drilling and screwing of the mandibular bone, skin incision in size of 3 mm was made with 11 number blade. Oral mucosal incision was used for the open reduction and insertion of the titanium plate on the mandible cortex in these patients. Soft diet was advised to all of the patients. Results: Short scar of the skin incision was observed after the operation. Bone healing process was uneventful. Conclusions: In the treatment of posterior mandible fracture, osteosyntesis may be performed with small skin scar with the use of transcutan drilling and screwing of mandibule.

Amaç: Bu çalışmada mandibula kırıklarının tedavisinde, yüz bölgesinde küçük kesi izi bırakarak osteosentez yapılması hedeflendi. Gereç ve Yöntem: On erkek sekiz kadın hastanın mandibula kırığı, titanyum mini vida ve plak kullanılarak rijit internal fiksasyon ile tedavi edildi. Hastalara ön mandibula kırıklarında sadece mukoza insizyonu ile rijit internal fiksasyon yapıldı. Arka mandibula kırıklarında 3mm cilt insizyonu yapılarak buradan kemiğin delinmesi ve titanyum plağın vidalanması sağlandı. Bu hastalarda mukozal insizyon, redüksiyon yapılması ve kırık bölgesine plak yerleştirilmesinde kullanıldı. Sıvı ve yumuşak diet önerildi. Bulgular: Operasyondan sonra yüz bölgesinde küçük bir kesi izi oluştu. Kırık iyileşmesinde sorun yaşanmadı. Sonuç: Arka mandibula kırıklarının tedavisinde osteosentez, mandibulanın ciltten delinmesi ve vidalanması ile küçük kesi izi bırakılarak yapılabilir.
